Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has urged BJP leaders and workers to strengthen preparations for the upcoming urban local body elections and remain active at the organisational level.

Saha gave the direction during a meeting of the BJP’s Agartala unit on October 1. State BJP president Abhishek Debroy, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath were among those present.

The meeting focused on election preparations, including the upcoming polls to Nagar Panchayats, as well as efforts to further strengthen the party’s organisational network.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Saha said discussions centred on the election-related organisational work and preparations required at different levels. He also said the committee for the process had not yet been finalised and that details would be announced by the state party president once a decision is taken.

Saha referred to the BJP’s performance in the previous urban local body elections, when the party secured all municipalities, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayats. He asked party workers to maintain their organisational activities as the next round of civic elections approaches.

The Chief Minister also stressed the need for continued engagement by party workers and leaders and called for greater attention to election-related responsibilities.

The BJP has been holding organisational meetings in Tripura as it prepares for various upcoming elections and seeks to strengthen its grassroots network.
