Tilak Gajmer Takes Oath as Sikkim State Information Commissioner

Former Sikkim bureaucrat Tilak Gajmer was sworn in as the state’s Information Commissioner on Thursday at a ceremony held at Lok Bhawan in Gangtok.

Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur administered the oath of office to Gajmer in the presence of senior government officials and dignitaries.

Gajmer previously served as Principal Director-cum-Secretary of the state Horticulture Department. He retired from government service on November 30, 2025.

The post of State Information Commissioner had remained vacant since Kuber Bhandari was appointed as the State Chief Information Commissioner on May 7 this year.

Congratulating Gajmer on his appointment, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said his experience in public administration would contribute to strengthening transparency, accountability and the effective implementation of citizens’ right to information in Sikkim.

In a social media post, Tamang extended his best wishes to Gajmer for his tenure and expressed hope that he would continue to serve the people of Sikkim with dedication.

Gajmer’s appointment fills the vacant position in the State Information Commission, which plays an important role in ensuring citizens’ access to information under the Right to Information framework.
