A woman biker was injured after a speeding car hit her motorcycle on Golf Course Road. The people inside the car fled from the spot after the incident, police said on Monday.
The incident happened on Sunday, September 13, and was recorded by a camera fitted on the biker’s motorcycle. A video of the incident later appeared on social media.
Police said they have identified the driver and formed three special teams to arrest him. Raids are also being carried out at different locations to find him.
The biker, identified as Siya, said in an Instagram post that she was riding her Aprilia RS 457 along with a group of bikers on Golf Course Road when a car started following them.
She said the occupants of the car came near her and allegedly misbehaved with her. When she asked them to keep some distance, they told her to stop her motorcycle, she alleged.
Siya also claimed that the people inside the car appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
According to her, the car later tried to overtake her and hit her motorcycle from the side. As a result, she fell from the bike and skidded several metres on the road.
The video of the incident shows the car hitting the motorcycle and the biker falling onto the road before skidding for several metres.
A senior police officer said the victim had shared details of the vehicle with the police. The vehicle is registered in the name of a person named Manish.
Gurugram Police took suo motu cognisance of the incident after the video was shared on social media. A case is being registered against the accused driver under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125 (causing injury) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 56 police station, a police spokesperson said.
Police have also tried to contact Siya but have not been able to reach her so far, the spokesperson said.
“No complaint has been received from the victim in the matter,” the spokesperson said. He added that the accused driver would be arrested according to the law.
“Gurugram Police would not tolerate any act of lawlessness and would take strict action against those involved,” the spokesperson said.
