Tamil Nadu police authorities have disciplined five officers—suspending four and dismissing one—following vigilance enquiries into bribery complaints, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Sub-Inspector Marishwaran of Puzhal Police Station was dismissed following a completed departmental inquiry into bribery allegations originating in 2024. Four other officers across Tirunelveli and Chennai were suspended following Internal Vigilance Cell investigations. Allegations against the suspended officers include demanding bribes between ₹1,000 and ₹10,000, with two incidents involving digital transfers via Google Pay.
The administrative actions align with broader police reform initiatives across the state to resolve pending internal vigilance cases and penalize officer misconduct.
