Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday, September 28, appealed to voters to come out in large numbers and cast their votes without fear in the ongoing Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Saha urged people not to wait until the last moment and asked them to reach their polling stations and exercise their franchise without any apprehension.
“Do not delay. Come out of your homes and go to your respective polling stations and cast your votes without any apprehension,” he said.
The Chief Minister said he had spoken to the Director General of Police and was assured that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure peaceful polling across the areas.
“Voting should be conducted in a festive atmosphere,” Saha said, urging people to take part in the democratic process without fear.
He also asked voters to make their choice freely and not come under pressure while deciding which candidate or party to support.
“I will not say that everyone should vote for our party. Vote wherever you think it is right to vote according to your own choice,” he said.
Saha described voting as both a right and a responsibility and said the election was important for development in areas under the TTAADC.
He said the representatives elected through the process would have a role in raising local issues and working towards development in their respective areas.
The Chief Minister appealed to voters to participate in the elections peacefully and exercise their democratic rights.
