BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on July 31 removed all references to the Bharatiya Janata Party from his X profile, sparking fresh speculation about whether he is planning to leave the party.
So far, neither Poonawalla nor the BJP has made any official announcement regarding his exit. Repeated attempts to contact him for a response were unsuccessful.
His updated X bio now reads: “Religion, Islam, Culture, Hindu, ideology-Bhartiya, Author: GST ki Yatra; Lifelong follower of PM Narendra Modi.” He also posted a screenshot of his revised profile on the platform.
The development comes just days after Poonawalla hinted that he might step away from active politics, saying he felt the time had come to move on.
On Friday, he further fueled the speculation by reposting videos of earlier interviews in which he spoke about stepping back from politics.
