Advance bookings for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, have generated ₹5.44 crore across India, with nearly 92,000 tickets reportedly sold ahead of its scheduled November 5 release. In Mumbai, premium recliner seats for select screenings are priced as high as ₹2,770.
The early booking figures indicate significant audience interest in one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious mythological projects. According to Sacnilk, as of 2 pm on Wednesday, the film had recorded advance bookings across 104 cities, generating ₹3.61 crore after block bookings were excluded.
Delhi-NCR Leads Advance Booking Collections
Delhi-NCR is leading the advance booking figures, contributing ₹1.52 crore through 19,913 tickets. Mumbai follows with ₹1.10 crore in reported collections, while Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru have also contributed to the film’s opening advance sales.
The Hindi version accounts for the largest share, with reported collections of ₹5.15 crore. The Kannada-dubbed version has generated ₹27.95 lakh, while the Telugu version has recorded ₹48,700.
Premium ticket prices have also attracted attention. According to BookMyShow, select IMAX 3D screenings at PVR ICON, Phoenix Palladium, in Mumbai’s Lower Parel are offering recliner seats for ₹2,770 on November 5 and 6.
The earliest listed screening in Mumbai is scheduled for 6:45 am, while another show is listed for 11:45 pm.
Advance bookings opened on Tuesday, more than two weeks before the film’s theatrical release. The rollout was reportedly slow initially amid a dispute over distribution revenue shares between Dharma Productions and exhibitors. The makers subsequently announced the opening of bookings nationwide.
Yash Unveils Ravana’s ‘Rise of Asura’
The film’s promotional campaign has also gathered momentum with the release of Rise of Asura, a video featuring Yash as Ravana performing to the beats of the Ravana Tandav.
The Hindi version features vocals by Vishal Dadlani, with lyrics penned by Kumar Vishwas. The promotional video offers audiences a glimpse of Yash’s portrayal of the legendary king of Lanka.
An Ensemble Cast for a Two-Part Epic
The two-part adaptation features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash portraying Ravana. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey essays the role of Lakshman.
The ensemble also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Anupam Kher and Rakul Preet Singh.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is expected to explore the beginnings of Rama’s journey, with the larger narrative unfolding across two instalments. The makers are positioning the project as a large-scale cinematic spectacle, with releases planned in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
The production is also targeting premium theatrical formats, including IMAX, for its worldwide release.
Sequel Planned for Diwali 2027
Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend is scheduled to release worldwide on November 5, 2026, with Sony Pictures handling its international distribution.
The second instalment, Ramayana: Part Two, is slated for a Diwali 2027 release. Ranbir Kapoor has previously indicated that the sequel was already around 50 per cent complete in terms of filming earlier this year.
With advance bookings now underway, the film’s opening performance will be closely watched as the makers prepare to bring the first chapter of the epic to theatres.
