A reported drone attack targeted the residence of NSCN-K (YA) commander Akham Konyak at Langkho village in Myanmar’s Sagaing Division early Saturday morning. Local residents confirmed the strike occurred during the early hours of October 3, leaving two civilians injured. No civilian fatalities have been confirmed.
Initial reports had suggested the Indian Army conducted a precision drone strike targeting a Naga insurgent camp, claiming Konyak had been neutralized. However, local sources later clarified that no NSCN cadres sustained injuries in the blast. The extent of casualties and exact circumstances surrounding the strike remain unverified independently.
The border region remains on high alert following a major escalation on September 29 near Nampong in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district. An Assam Rifles patrol was ambushed during that incident, resulting in the death of Havildar Jankhokai Kuki and injuries to four other personnel. The NSCN/GPRN (YA) and the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) jointly claimed responsibility for the ambush.
Security forces have significantly boosted search and area-domination operations across the India-Myanmar border corridor in response to the rising violence.
