Delhi Police Detain Arvind Kejriwal During CJP Protest

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was detained by Delhi Police on Saturday before he could reach Jantar Mantar to participate in a protest against the Election Commission.

Several opposition leaders and activists were also reportedly detained as demonstrations took place across the national capital. Those detained included West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, All India Students’ Association (AISA) leader Neha Bora, and activists Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan.

Neha Bora, Yadav and Bhushan were reportedly detained while attempting to reach Dilli Haat, as security restrictions intensified around Jantar Mantar. Police arrangements in the area significantly restricted movement amid the planned demonstrations.

Earlier, three leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)—Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka—were detained by Delhi Police aboard an aircraft shortly after arriving in the national capital.

The detentions came amid heightened security and growing political tensions surrounding the planned protest against the Election Commission. Further details regarding the police action and the status of those detained were awaited.
