Security personnel stopped thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters near Parliament Street on Monday after they allegedly tried to cross police barricades during the party’s “Chalo Sansad” march on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 11:25 a.m. when protesters attempted to move past several barricades set up around the high-security area near Parliament. This led to a brief clash between the protesters and the police.
During the confrontation, a few protesters and police personnel received minor injuries. Sources also said that around 10 to 15 protesters were taken into custody after the incident.
A large number of Delhi Police personnel, along with plainclothes officers, had been deployed across the area to maintain security and stop the protesters from reaching Parliament.
However, New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma denied reports that the police had used force against the protesters. He said that no Delhi Police personnel had used force during the protest.
The CJP organised the “Chalo Sansad” march to demand action over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. The protesters also called for reforms in the examination system and greater accountability. The protest was held on the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session.
