Former minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on April 7 said that voters are likely to give a strong response against the BJP in the upcoming Dharmanagar Assembly by-election, alleging a “reign of loot, unrest and violence” under the present government.
Addressing a campaign gathering in Dharmanagar, Roy Barman urged people to cast their votes based on their experiences of governance over the past few years, both in the state and at the Centre.
While campaigning for Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya, he appealed to voters to back the party, claiming that there is growing public dissatisfaction with the BJP’s rule.
He also alleged that democratic rights have been restricted and said governance standards in Tripura have declined. Roy Barman even called on BJP supporters to reflect on the current situation, urging them to vote for change.
“We are confident that people will give their verdict through the EVMs,” he said, adding that voters should “teach the BJP a lesson” in the by-election.
The Dharmanagar by-poll is part of the ongoing electoral process in Tripura.
