A complaint has been filed before the West District and Sessions Judge Court against Tripura Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury for allegedly making derogatory and false remarks about SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das.
Advocate Raju Datta said that on October 10, 2025, Chaudhury made statements to the media claiming that the minister’s brother is the highest taxpayer in Tripura and owns vast assets. He further alleged that the family’s wealth grew significantly after Sudhangshu Das assumed office.
Datta termed the allegations as baseless and said they were made with the intent to defame the minister.
“The complaint has been filed in the West District and Sessions Judge Court, with Public Prosecutor Biswajit Dey named as the complainant. The statements made are completely false and were aimed at damaging the reputation of Minister Sudhangshu Das,” the advocate said, adding that the claims have no factual backing.
