Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on February 2 congratulated the Dalai Lama on winning a Grammy Award, describing it as a proud moment and a recognition of the Tibetan spiritual leader’s lifelong message of compassion and wisdom.
The Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, won the award in the Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording category for Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. This marks his first Grammy win.
In a post on social media platform X, Tamang shared his congratulations, saying he felt “deep reverence and joy” at the honour bestowed on His Holiness. He said the award reflects decades of work dedicated to promoting compassion, wisdom and a sense of universal responsibility.
The chief minister added that the Dalai Lama’s calm voice and teachings have guided people across the world towards inner peace and a better understanding of human interconnectedness.
“May these meditations continue to inspire kindness, ease suffering and light the way towards a more compassionate world,” Tamang said in his message.
The Grammy recognition is being seen as a significant milestone in the Dalai Lama’s global outreach, highlighting the reach of his teachings well beyond religious and cultural boundaries.
