Rohini Acharya’s cryptic post questions RJD leadership ahead of key meet

Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has sparked fresh political debate with a pointed social media post questioning the party’s current direction, widely seen as a veiled critique of her brother Tejashwi Yadav ahead of a key party meeting.

In her post on X, Acharya said anyone who genuinely follows “Laluism” and has worked for the rights of marginalised communities would naturally question those responsible for what she described as the party’s decline. “Whoever takes pride in Lalu Ji’s continuous struggle for socio-economic justice, and whoever seeks to carry forward his political legacy, will inevitably raise their voice against those responsible for the party’s sorry state, without worrying about the consequences,” she wrote.

Acharya called the present situation “bitter, worrying and deeply painful” and alleged that control of the party had slipped into the hands of “infiltrators and conspirators” who, she claimed, were backed by “fascist forces” aiming to weaken Laluism from within. “The bitter truth today is that those sent to destroy Laluism have entrenched themselves in positions of influence and seem to be succeeding in their goals,” she added.

Taking a dig at the current leadership style, Acharya urged party officials to stop evading questions or spreading confusion, and instead provide clear, factual explanations. She also criticised the alleged use of abusive language and mistreatment of those who speak up in the interest of the party, calling on the leadership to reflect rather than attack critics.

Her remarks come nearly a year after she distanced herself from the family and politics following the RJD’s heavy defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, when the party’s tally fell from 75 seats to just 24. She had publicly blamed two close aides of Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, for the poor performance.

At the time, Acharya had described facing humiliation and abuse within the party, writing, “Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, filthy abuses were hurled at her, a slipper was raised to hit her.” She said she refused to compromise her self-respect or “surrender the truth” despite the alleged intimidation and warned others not to follow the path she had walked.
