New Martyrs’ Memorial Unveiled at Boragaon; CM Pays Tribute to Assam Movement Martyrs

Newly Built Martyrs’ Memorial at Boragaon Inaugurated in Guwahati

The newly constructed Martyrs’ Memorial Complex at Boragaon in Guwahati was inaugurated today. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma formally opened the towering monument built in memory of the martyrs of the Assam Movement.

The memorial has been developed on over 150 bighas of land at a cost of around ₹170 crore. At the central event held in Boragaon, a group of 860 artists performed the song “Swahid Pranamo Tomak.”

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Cabinet Ministers Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta were present at the ceremony. Notably, the iconic song “Swahid Pranamo Tomak” by Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was performed simultaneously across districts and sub-divisions as part of the occasion.
