Mizoram Government Awards ₹25 Lakh Each to Asian Games Gold Medallists

Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced a cash reward of ₹25 lakh each for Indian women’s hockey stars Lalremsiami and Lalthantluangi following their historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The Mizo duo played key roles as the Indian women’s hockey team defeated China 1–0 in a tense final to claim the Asian Games title, ending a 44-year wait for gold. Forward Lalremsiami scored the decisive lone goal of the match, which also sealed India’s direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma lauded the players, noting that they are the first athletes from Mizoram to win an Asian Games gold medal. “In recognition of their outstanding achievement, both players shall be awarded ₹25 lakh each under the existing Mizoram Sports Incentives Cash Award Scheme,” Lalduhoma announced, commending Arjuna Awardee Lalremsiami and teammate Lalthantluangi for making the nation and the state proud.
