The Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department seized 349 grams of heroin from a homestay in Aizawl’s Falkland locality on December 16, officials said.
The seizure was made during a raid at LC Homestay, conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs. During the operation, excise officials recovered 210 soap cases containing the contraband and detained three persons who were staying at the premises.
Those arrested have been identified as Zorinsanga (32) of Lunglei Chanmari Veng, Lalhmangaihsanga (39) of K Section, Bungkawn Vengthar in Aizawl, and Bawihchhuanpiang (29) from Webula in Falam district of Chin State, Myanmar. Officials confirmed that one of the accused is a Myanmar national.
All three have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. They were produced before the NDPS Special Court on December 17.
Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the seized heroin and its intended destination.
