Missing Tripura tourist found dead in Nagaland’s Dzukou Valley

The body of a 22-year-old tourist from Tripura, who had been missing since last month after entering Nagaland’s Dzukou Valley, was recovered on Saturday, police said on February 8.

The deceased was identified as Pranab Das from the Srinagar area of West Tripura district. According to police, he had entered the scenic Dzukou Valley on January 4 through the Viswema entry point after purchasing an entry ticket. The valley is known for its lush hills, streams and the rare Dzukou lily.

Officials said the identity was established based on personal items found at the site, including the entry ticket, two mobile phones, a wallet with cash and other identification documents.

An inquest was carried out at the location in the presence of officials from the Kohima district administration and independent witnesses.

Police said it is still too early to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary findings at the scene have not suggested any signs of foul play.

The family members of the deceased have been informed about the recovery, authorities added.
