The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will convene its Budget Session from February 16 to February 27, 2026, with the State Budget scheduled to be presented on February 20. The dates were finalised by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) during its meeting held on January 27.
The ten-day session is expected to be busy, with seven days earmarked for government business and three days reserved for private members’ business. Key financial matters and policy discussions are likely to dominate the proceedings.
The BAC meeting was chaired by Speaker Thomas A. Sangma and attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, Prestone Tynsong. Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma and MLA Paul Lyngdoh participated in the meeting virtually.
Senior officials from the Parliamentary Affairs Department and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat were also present during the deliberations.
According to the schedule, the House may sit beyond regular hours if required to accommodate discussions. On the day the Supplementary Demand for Grants is taken up, the proceedings will continue until 3 pm.
