Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Monday, December 15, chaired a state-level meeting of the Home and Police Departments at Lok Bhavan in Imphal to review the key takeaways of the DGsP/IGsP Conference 2025 held in Raipur from November 28 to 30.
During the meeting, Manipur Director General of Police Rajiv Singh briefed the Governor on the major recommendations made by the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister at the national conference. He highlighted priority areas such as maintaining law and order, counter-terrorism efforts, tackling Left Wing Extremism, strengthening coordination through the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), disaster management and civil defence preparedness, greater use of forensic technology, women’s safety, handling mass agitations, and efforts to bring back Indian fugitives from abroad.
The DGP also shared insights from thematic sessions chaired by the Prime Minister on the vision of a ‘Drug-Free India’, along with discussions led by the Union Home Minister on national security and internal stability.
Emphasising the Centre’s focus on creating a drug-free society, Governor Bhalla directed the state police to further strengthen surveillance using modern technologies, including drones and artificial intelligence-based tools. He also stressed the need for regular training and capacity building of police personnel to effectively respond to emerging law and order and security challenges.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Commissioner (Home), Additional Directors General of Police, Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General of Police and Superintendents of Police from across Manipur.
