Major General Harinder Singh Mavi takes charge as IG Assam Rifles (North)

Major General Harinder Singh Mavi on January 19 assumed charge as Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), officials said.

He took over the responsibility from Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar), who relinquished command of the formation.

Commissioned into the 2 Jat Regiment in June 1994, Major General Mavi has held a range of important command and staff appointments during his career. He has earlier served as a company commander with the Assam Rifles in North Sikkim, commanded an infantry battalion in Jammu, and later headed a mountain brigade at Binnaguri.

An alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the officer has also completed the Higher Command Course at the Army War College in Mhow.

Major General Mavi brings with him extensive operational experience, having served in both Jammu and Kashmir and across the northeastern region.

After taking charge, he conveyed his greetings to the people of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and said he looks forward to working closely with central and state authorities for the region’s peace, progress and overall wellbeing.
