Dr Rajendra Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, visited Moreh in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on Tuesday to review the security setup and infrastructure along the Indo-Myanmar border.
During the visit, Dr Kumar inspected several forward border posts and surveillance facilities and interacted with personnel deployed in the area to get feedback on operational challenges and requirements on the ground.
He later chaired a review meeting attended by officials from the Assam Rifles, the district administration and other security agencies. Stressing the need for better coordination, the Secretary called for improved patrolling and stronger real-time intelligence sharing among all stakeholders.
Dr Kumar also emphasised the early use of modern surveillance tools, including drones and sensor-based systems, to strengthen border monitoring and create a more efficient management mechanism.
Commending the efforts of security forces working in a sensitive border area, he reiterated the Centre’s commitment to ensuring national security while allowing smooth and legitimate cross-border trade.
He urged all agencies to remain alert and work in close coordination to curb illegal activities and maintain peace and stability in the region
