Four workers killed as brick kiln chimney collapses in Tripura’s Dhalai

At least four workers were killed and four others injured after a brick kiln chimney collapsed in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Wednesday, December 17.

According to police, three labourers died on the spot when the chimney at a brick kiln in the Kamalpur area suddenly gave way. Another worker, who was seriously injured in the incident, later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The injured workers are currently receiving medical care. However, officials have not shared details about their condition so far.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse. Preliminary inquiries are underway to understand the sequence of events leading to the accident.

The incident has once again raised concerns over worker safety at brick kilns in the region, where similar accidents linked to structural failures have occurred in the past.

Local authorities are yet to clarify whether the kiln was operating in accordance with safety norms at the time of the incident.
