Farmers in Khoriapara village of Goalpara district, much like the rest of the state, are now busy harvesting golden paddy fields.

The village also follows a unique tradition. While the women of the village prepare kathiya during the month of Sawan, the men take up the task of cutting the ripened, golden paddy in Aghon.

This tradition has been preserved in the village for nearly 50 years. Farming here is done collectively by the villagers, and the harvested paddy is stored in the community granary.
