Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his Hollywood debut, marking a high-profile crossover between global sport and big-ticket cinema. Ronaldo has joined the cast of Fast X: Part 2, becoming the latest addition to the long-running Fast & Furious franchise.
The news sparked immediate reactions from members of the franchise. Actor Tyrese Gibson welcomed Ronaldo in an Instagram post from the set, sharing a picture and writing, “Welcome to the family! @CristianoRonaldo — the global dance just went to new heights.”
Franchise star Vin Diesel later confirmed that Ronaldo’s character was tailor-made for him. Posting a selfie with the footballer, Diesel said fans had long been asking whether Ronaldo would appear in the Fast universe, adding that the team “wrote a role especially for him.”
What began in 2001 as a street-racing film has since evolved into a global action juggernaut known for high-speed chases, over-the-top stunts and its central theme of family. The franchise now includes ten main films and several spin-offs, with worldwide box office earnings crossing $7 billion.
Fast X: Part 2 is expected to wrap up the core storyline, making Ronaldo’s entry into the franchise particularly noteworthy. He will share the screen with an ensemble cast that includes Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez.
The film is slated for release in April 2027. With Ronaldo now part of the final chapter, fans are keen to see how the football superstar fits into the franchise’s trademark high-octane world.
