Chief Secretary inspects Batadrava project ahead of Amit Shah’s visit

Batadrava has come alive with heightened administrative and cultural activity ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on December 29, when he is scheduled to inaugurate the Batadrava project. With the high-profile programme approaching, Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota on Tuesday carried out an on-ground inspection to review preparedness and take stock of the final arrangements.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Batadrava MLA Rupak Sharma, Assam Police IGP Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Secretary Sudarshan Thakur, along with senior officials from the civil administration and police.

During the visit, Ravi Kota inspected various facilities developed under the project. These include artistically designed guest houses, an auditorium inspired by Sattriya culture with temple drum-style architectural elements, a Khol-shaped research centre, a boat-style skill development centre, and a Japi-themed theatre. He also reviewed the main entrance complex and the helipad, stressing the need for timely completion and smooth coordination among departments.

The Chief Secretary closely monitored the final phase of construction works and issued instructions to ensure that all arrangements are completed well ahead of the inauguration.

The inauguration of the Batadrava project is expected to attract nearly 50,000 Vaishnav devotees from different parts of the state. The programme will feature large-scale cultural performances, with around 2,000 musicians and thousands of artists set to present Assam’s Sattriya heritage in a grand welcome to the Union Home Minister.
