BJP will win all 28 district council seats, says Tripura CM

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on January 6 expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure all 28 seats in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, claiming the party’s support among tribal voters was steadily growing.

The Chief Minister made the statement while welcoming 2,499 voters from 755 families who joined the BJP at a programme held in Chawmanu, in Dhalai district.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Saha said the BJP was working to establish what he described as “healthy politics” in Tripura, while accusing opposition parties of fuelling divisions and unrest. Recalling past years, he alleged that extremist groups had once been created to silence public voices for political gain.

“By creating tension and violence, some tried to suppress the people. But the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is one of the largest political parties in the world, cannot be suppressed in this way,” he said.

Taking aim at the CPI(M), the Chief Minister accused the party of continuing to promote divisions among different jaati and janajati communities. He also claimed that regional parties in Tripura were steadily losing their political relevance.

Referring to protests and disruptions allegedly aimed at the BJP, Dr Saha said attempts were being made to obstruct the party’s work through agitations and road blockades. “They try to stop us in different ways, but we will respond within the framework of the law. This kind of politics will not continue in Tripura,” he said.

Dr Saha further asserted that neither regional parties nor political pressure tactics could weaken the BJP through violence or intimidation. “The BJP is strong not just in the country but across the world. Today’s large-scale joining clearly shows how the party is strengthening its base in the district council areas,” he said.

Pointing to the turnout at the Chawmanu event, the Chief Minister said the public response reflected growing support for the BJP. “The enthusiasm we see here today proves that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win all 28 seats in the TTAADC,” he added.

The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections are expected to be held later this year.
