Ahead of AI Summit, Macron posts AI-made photo with PM Modi

A day before attending the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, French President Emmanuel Macron shared an AI-generated image of himself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the growing partnership between India and France in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

Posting the image on X, Macron wrote, “When friends connect, innovation follows. Ready for The AI Impact Summit!” He also added, “Yes this is AI,” making a direct reference to the summit’s theme and the expanding technological ties between the two countries.

The post was widely seen as a positive signal ahead of the summit, reflecting confidence in deeper cooperation in AI and innovation.

Speaking earlier at the India-France Innovation Forum, Macron said the real question was no longer whether India can innovate, but who would choose to innovate with India. “France is the clear answer. We are here, we want to stay, and we are not leaving. Jai Ho! As we say in a famous movie. So long live the Indo-French relationship,” he said.

Macron’s visit includes participation in the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi as well as a bilateral summit in Mumbai. This marks his fourth official visit to India.

During recent engagements, both sides announced plans to set up new joint institutions such as the Indo-French Centre for AI in Health, the Indo-French Centre for Digital Science and Technology, and a National Centre of Excellence for Skilling in Aeronautics. Prime Minister Modi described these initiatives as “future-building platforms” aimed at strengthening cooperation in emerging sectors.

The two leaders also reviewed key collaborative projects launched in recent years, including the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and the International Solar Alliance, reflecting shared priorities in connectivity and climate action.

Cultural ties were also part of the discussions. India is set to open the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in France, and both countries will work together on projects such as the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal.

Macron’s AI-themed social media post and the announcements around the summit together point to a steadily deepening partnership between India and France, built around technology, innovation, defence cooperation and common global goals.
