J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Marries Journalist Nidhi Razdan in Private Ceremony

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced his marriage to journalist Nidhi Razdan, sharing the news with his followers on social media on Saturday.

Abdullah posted a photograph with Razdan on Instagram, captioning it, “A new journey began yesterday”, while tagging her in the post.

The announcement came a day after their wedding and marks a new chapter in the personal life of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister.

SUPREME COURT GRANTED DIVORCE TO OMAR ABDULLAH

The marriage announcement comes approximately three months after the Supreme Court agreed to dissolve Omar Abdullah’s marriage to his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah.

On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court said it would dissolve their marriage after both parties informed the court that they had mutually agreed to separate and settle their pending disputes. They also agreed to withdraw the legal cases filed against each other.

The matter reached the Supreme Court after Omar Abdullah challenged an earlier Delhi High Court decision refusing to grant him a divorce.

During the proceedings, the couple jointly approached the Supreme Court seeking dissolution of their marriage by mutual consent under Article 142 of the Constitution.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the couple, informed the court that both parties had resolved their differences and agreed to settle the matter.

Omar Abdullah and Payal Abdullah married in 1994 after meeting while working at The Oberoi hotel in New Delhi.

The couple have two sons, Zahir and Zamir.

They had been living separately since 2009, with Omar Abdullah publicly announcing their separation in 2011.

The Supreme Court had earlier taken note of the fact that the couple had been living apart for several years before agreeing to dissolve their marriage.

Omar Abdullah’s latest announcement has drawn attention across political and media circles, with the Chief Minister sharing the news personally through social media.
