The Tripura Cabinet has approved a series of measures, including free distribution of essential food items to nearly 9.9 lakh ration card holders and recruitment to more than 1,200 government posts.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday and were announced by Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday.
Free Suji, Maida and Sugar for Ration Card Holders
As part of the special festival allocation, every ration card holder will receive 500 grams of suji, 1 kg of maida and 1 kg of sugar free of cost through fair price shops during October and November.
The government is expected to require around 243 metric tonnes of suji, 1,984 MT of maida and 929 MT of sugar for the distribution.
The total expenditure on the festival allocation has been estimated at around Rs 9.35 crore. According to Chowdhury, the state has been providing the special festive allocation to all ration card holders every year.
700 Teacher Posts Approved
The Cabinet also cleared the creation and recruitment of 700 Secondary Graduate Teacher (STGT) posts on a fixed-pay basis for Classes IX and X under the Education Department.
In addition, the government approved the filling of 361 teaching vacancies in elementary education. These include 75 Graduate Teacher (GT) posts and 286 Under Graduate Teacher (UGT) posts.
213 Posts for Agartala Municipal Corporation
Under the Urban Development Department, the Cabinet approved the creation and filling of 213 posts across various categories under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The move is expected to strengthen staffing across the civic body.
Changes in Allowances and Stipend
The Cabinet also approved an increase in the sitting allowance for members of sub-committees under the SC Welfare Department. The allowance has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 200 per sitting.
For boarding students covered under the Minority Welfare Department, the daily boarding stipend has also been increased from Rs 65 to Rs 100.
Tripura Staff Selection Commission Approved
Another key decision was the constitution of the Tripura Staff Selection Commission (TSSC).
The commission will be responsible for conducting recruitment for Group B, Group C and Group D posts in the state government.
The Cabinet also approved the filling of eight vacant Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts under the Science and Technology Department.
The decisions cover food assistance, education, employment and administrative staffing, along with revisions to welfare-related allowances and stipends.
