The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) has completed preparations for the Village Committee elections scheduled for September 28, with around 7,300 polling personnel deployed and security arrangements strengthened across the state.
SEC Secretary Anurag Sen said on Saturday that polling will be held across 44 blocks at 1,095 polling stations where contests are taking place. Out of the 1,550 polling stations identified earlier, 1,095 will see contests. Around 6.65 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes.
For peaceful polling, 74 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed across the state. The forces will carry out patrolling, area domination and other security measures to maintain law and order.
Sen said election materials were being checked at the respective blocks on Saturday. Polling personnel will start moving to their assigned polling stations from the morning of September 27 under security cover.
Sector officers have been asked to ensure the safe movement and arrival of polling teams. The teams will be accompanied by state police and other security personnel while carrying ballot boxes and ballot papers.
After polling ends on September 28, officials will complete the required sealing procedures before depositing the election materials at designated receiving centres.
The SEC has also arranged 44 strong rooms and 44 separate counting halls, one each for every block.
Meanwhile, preparations for the upcoming Urban Local Body elections are also underway. Sen said the final list of polling stations has been published, with 783 polling stations identified across Tripura.
The Commission has also announced the schedule for revision of the electoral rolls. The draft electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026, while voters can file claims and objections until October 8. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 15.
The SEC said preparations for the Urban Local Body elections are being carried out alongside arrangements for the Village Committee polls.
