Dharmendra Pradhan brings IITs on board to resolve CBSE re-evaluation portal issues

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has asked expert teams from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur to assist CBSE in resolving technical problems on its post-exam services portal and ensure a smoother re-evaluation process for students.

The move came after many students reported technical glitches on the CBSE portal used for services such as answer sheet verification, marks rechecking and re-evaluation after the board results.

As per the Ministry, professors and technical experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur will review different technical aspects of the portal and recommend improvements.

The teams will mainly examine:

  • Portal stability and server performance
  • Strength of the IT infrastructure
  • Login and authentication systems
  • User access and traffic handling
  • Payment gateway operations

They will also help CBSE implement corrective measures wherever required.

Dharmendra Pradhan said the interests of students are the top priority and instructed CBSE to address the issues urgently.

The technical concerns surfaced after CBSE declared Class 12 board results on May 13. Several students and parents questioned the marks awarded in some subjects and raised doubts about the evaluation process under the Board’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.

On May 15, CBSE introduced revised post-result procedures allowing students to first access scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets before applying for verification or re-evaluation.

The application process for obtaining scanned copies started on May 19. However, due to heavy traffic and technical problems on the portal, CBSE later extended the deadline twice, pushing it to May 26.

The involvement of IIT experts is expected to improve the functioning of the portal and reduce glitches during the re-evaluation period, helping students complete the process more smoothly during peak demand after board results.
