Tripura govt stood by tribals when others ignored them: CM Manik Saha

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday (March 3) said his government has taken unprecedented initiatives for the welfare of tribal communities, alleging that earlier regimes had largely neglected their concerns. He stressed that education and youth empowerment remain central to the state’s development agenda.

Addressing a gathering in Agartala, Saha claimed that “till date, everyone ignored the tribals. Our government has extended support to them in every possible way,” highlighting what he described as a commitment to inclusive and balanced growth across communities in Tripura.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Chief Minister said achieving that goal would require strong governance and a clear focus on improving learning outcomes. “The benchmark of Viksit Bharat 2047 can be achieved only if the state is run properly,” he said, underlining the importance of transparency and effective policy implementation.

Saha also mentioned the Prime Minister’s annual student outreach programme, Pariksha Pe Charcha, saying it helps create a meaningful connection with young learners and eases exam-related stress. “The Prime Minister discusses exams with students every year. This builds a strong connect with children,” he said.

Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, Saha noted that nearly 65 per cent of the country’s population comprises youth, describing them as the nation’s greatest asset.

Reiterating his government’s focus on the education sector, he said there would be “no compromise on education.” He added that the administration is working collectively to strengthen academic infrastructure, raise quality standards and create opportunities that enable young people to contribute effectively to nation-building.
