Tripura minister hopes attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh will stop

Tripura’s SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on February 18 expressed hope that justice would prevail in Bangladesh under its new government and that alleged persecution of Hindus in the neighbouring country would come to an end.

His statement came after Tarique Rahman took oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Congratulating him on assuming office, Das said he was optimistic that democratic values would be strengthened under the new leadership.

In a Facebook post, Das congratulated Rahman, referring to him as the newly elected head of the BNP, and said he hoped a democratic government would be firmly established in Bangladesh where all communities receive justice. He specifically mentioned concerns over reported incidents of violence and atrocities against Hindus and expressed hope that such incidents would stop.

The minister also appealed to the new Prime Minister to ensure the immediate release of Chinmaykrishna Das Prabhu, claiming that he has been jailed in what he described as a false case.

Das’s remarks reflect concerns in Tripura, particularly in border areas, over reports of alleged violence against minority communities in Bangladesh following recent political developments.
