Mizoram targeting 1% contribution to India’s GDP by 2047: CM Lalduhoma

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on January 27 said his government is working towards ensuring that the state contributes one per cent to India’s GDP by 2047, outlining a long-term vision focused on sustainable and inclusive growth.

The Chief Minister made the remarks during a meeting with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Angela Lusigi in Aizawl. He thanked the UNDP for its continued support in Mizoram and urged the agency to further expand its engagement with the state, sources said.

During the meeting, Lalduhoma noted that three districts of Mizoram featured among the top performers in the latest NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Index. He said the state ranks high on human development indicators and has maintained low levels of corruption. The Chief Minister also outlined the government’s strategy to help Mizoram reach the one per cent GDP contribution target by 2047, stressing the need to scale up key initiatives to achieve the goal.

Lusigi acknowledged the progress made by Mizoram in recent years and appreciated the state’s development efforts. She briefed the Chief Minister on UNDP’s ongoing support and priority areas, while also seeking updates on the implementation of the state government’s key projects.

The meeting highlighted Mizoram’s focus on sustainable development, improved governance and strengthening partnerships with international agencies to boost its economic and social growth.
