Three people, including the CEO of a private IT firm, have been arrested in connection with the alleged gangrape of a woman manager after a birthday party in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, police said on December 25.
According to police, the prime accused, identified as company CEO Jitesh Sisodia, had hosted a birthday party at a private venue in the city last Saturday. The woman, who works as a manager in the same company, had attended the party as a guest. The two other accused are a senior female executive of the firm and her husband, Gaurav Sirohi, a resident of Meerut.
Police said that after the party concluded and most guests had left, the female executive offered to drop the woman home. The complainant has alleged that she was taken in a car in which Sisodia and Sirohi were also present.
As per the complaint, the accused stopped at a shop during the drive and bought an item resembling cigarettes, which was later offered to her. After consuming it, the woman allegedly lost consciousness. She regained consciousness the next morning and realised she had been sexually assaulted.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sukher police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). All three accused were detained for questioning and subsequently arrested.
“They were produced before a court on Thursday and sent to four days of police custody,” Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said.
Police said the woman’s medical examination has been conducted and her statement recorded. The investigation has now been handed over to Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuri Verma for further probe.
