Arunachal’s Anini named ‘Best Emerging Adventure Destination’ at national convention

Anini, the remote town in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley district, has been awarded the “Best Emerging Adventure Destination” at the 17th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), held in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.

The award was presented by Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, recognising Anini’s rising profile on India’s adventure tourism map and its focus on sustainable tourism practices.

Officials said the recognition reflects the combined efforts of the Arunachal Pradesh Department of Tourism, local tourism stakeholders and the people of Anini. Community participation, ecological conservation and a responsible approach to adventure tourism have played a key role in shaping Anini’s tourism growth.

The national-level honour is being viewed as a significant milestone for Dibang Valley and a moment of pride for Arunachal Pradesh’s tourism sector, as Anini continues to emerge as a preferred destination for adventure seekers from across the country.

The award was received on behalf of the district by Lamwang Aran, District Tourism Officer (DTO), Anini, during the convention.
