Panchayat elections in Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district were held peacefully and without any incident on December 15, with polling conducted smoothly across all six Zilla Parishad segments. As many as 46 polling stations functioned throughout the day without any disruption, officials said.
Election authorities confirmed that the polling process remained calm and orderly, and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the district. Adequate security arrangements and continuous monitoring ensured that voters could cast their ballots in a safe and secure atmosphere.
The elections were carried out under the overall supervision of District Election Officer Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, IAS, assisted by the Deputy District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police Angad Mehta, IPS. District police personnel were deployed in sufficient strength, particularly in sensitive areas, to maintain law and order during the polling process.
The district election administration acknowledged the efforts of polling parties, presiding officers, returning and assistant returning officers, sector magistrates, sector police officers and police personnel, including those deputed at short notice. Their coordination helped ensure that the elections were conducted smoothly and fairly.
Officials also appreciated the work of the election branch led by the ADC-cum-Deputy DEO, nodal officers and the district police machinery for carrying out their duties efficiently. Despite concerns over logistical challenges in some pockets, close coordination between the civil administration and police prevented any situation from escalating.
The district administration also credited the cooperation of political parties and candidates for contributing to the peaceful atmosphere during the polls.
Counting of votes is scheduled to be held on December 20, 2025, at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, starting at 8 am.
