Major Success for Bongaigaon Police
Bongaigaon Police have achieved a major breakthrough with the arrest of a man posing as a journalist involved in multiple thefts. The accused, Imam-ul Haque, had introduced himself as a journalist of the news portal Portal, and allegedly carried out late-night robberies while dressed in police uniform.
A special team from Bongaigaon arrested Imam-ul Haque along with two associates — Sanjoy Das and Pragyan Narzary — from Dispur, Guwahati.
The trio had allegedly carried out a burglary on 5 November at an apartment in Newpara, impersonating police personnel.
Police recovered three live rounds of ammunition, seven gold chains, nine mobile phones, six gold rings, two silver coins, and ₹98,000 in cash from their possession.
