Wild elephanat death

Unrestrained destruction of forest areas has forced herds of wild elephants to move down into the plains. With their natural habitat shrinking rapidly, the animals are increasingly deprived of food and shelter, compelling them to stray into human settlements.

As a result, incidents of human-elephant conflict have become frequent. In recent weeks, such clashes reported from various districts of the state indicate a worsening situation. This growing conflict has turned into a major crisis—not only causing loss of human lives but also leading to the deaths of several wild elephants that venture into inhabited areas in search of food.

Amid the continuing conflict, another wild elephant has been found dead, adding to the rising concerns among wildlife enthusiasts. The carcass of the elephant was recovered from the Bhalukaguri field in the Dharmatul forest area of Morigaon district.

The exact cause of the elephant’s death is yet to be ascertained. Forest officials have initiated a post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.
